Dr. Ronald Cox, DDS has been practicing general dentistry for over thirty years. A native of Omaha, Nebraska, he holds a dental license in both Colorado and North Carolina, where he has owned and operated dental offices in both states. He has been in North Carolina since 1996, where he sold his practice in Stanley, North Carolina in 2014.

“My story along the path of Dental Sleep Medicine began during my time in Stanley. Well over a decade ago, I had a patient tell me that his wife was complaining of his snoring and asked me if I could help.” Although he was already a seasoned dentist, Dr. Cox realized that he, (like the majority of dentists), had little or no training on the problem. “Once I learned how widespread and underdiagnosed the problem of obstructive sleep apnea really is, and how serious the consequences are, I could no longer look at my patients every day and realize that there was little I could do to help.”

After he sold his practice in Stanley, Dr. Cox continued on this journey. Taking over 200 hours of continuing education on this subject, he earned a “Qualified Dentist” designation from the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine.

“As my passion for this has grown, my goals and purpose have changed. I now want to make a difference by educating dentists, (to get more eyes on the problem), educating the public about the risks and providing a bridge to help get those affected get the proper diagnosis and care. Lastly, I want to work with the medical community to treat those diagnosed with OSA, where I can, to possibly lengthen lifespans and improve the quality of people’s lives. This is why I created Good Night Dentistry.”

Dr. Mark Mautner, DMD practiced general and family dentistry in Pembroke Pines, Florida for 31 years. In 2014 he retired and moved to Wilkesboro, NC. A large part of his practice was devoted to the treatment of snoring and sleep apnea using oral appliances. Since beginning this type treatment in 1987, Dr. Mautner has provided over 1800 appliances to patients in need.

“Treating snoring and sleep apnea was certainly the most rewarding part of my practice. To be able to improve my patients daily quality of life and longevity gave me great satisfaction. Many sleep partners, wives and husbands thanked me for allowing them to sleep together in the same room for the first time in years. Patients were transformed from living constantly exhausted to being energetic and fully experiencing the thrill of living. There’s no greater joy than to be able to improve the health, wellbeing and happiness of another.”

Dr. Mautner has lectured extensively on the topics of orthodontics and oral appliance therapy for snoring and sleep apnea. He has lectured in Singapore, Israel, Spain, The Netherlands as well as in the US. He has been invited to speak at several Florida dental study clubs.
